Starkville Gun Club Quick Rules

  1.   !!! 10/24/2023 - SGC owned Steel Targets will be removed from ALL Ranges until further notice. !!!
  2.   Ignorance of SGC Rules is not an excuse.
  3.  Member RFID cards are proof of Starkville Gun Club membership and must be available at all times for inspection.
  4.  Starkville Gun Club members are responsible for their guests. Non-Members must be accompanied by a member at all times.
  5.  As you enter and leave the club please tag in and tag out. During events the gate will be left open for non members but please tag in and out when the gate is open.
  6.  Exploding targets such as Tannerite and Sonic Boom targets are not allowed on ANY Range.
  7.  The Rifle Range is Center-Fire only and slow rate of fire, NO faster than 1 round every 5 seconds.
  8.  No Firearm will be loaded until the shooter is on the bench or in position to fire. When not on the bench or in a shooting position all firearms will be breech open and unloaded.
  9.  Never load, handle, or aim any firearm while anyone is down range.
  10.  Always wear eye and ear protection.
  11.  Only fire straight through your target, directly into the backstop. Never fire diagonally across any range.
  12.  Only fire at paper targets that are attached to a target frame. Ground level targets or targets placed on top of the backstop are not authorized. Prone firing must be done so that projectiles pass through the target and hit the backstop. The use of cans, glass bottles or any other object as a target is not authorized.
  13.  Properly setup Steel targets are only allowed on the Pistol Ranges.
  14.  Steel targets shall never be engaged at less that 7 yards or 21 feet on any range.
  15.  Never engage Steel targets with Magnum loads, armor piercing ammuntion or velocity greater than 1600 FPS.
  16.  DO NOT mix alcohol or drugs with shooting activities.
  17.  Never load a shotgun on any shotgun range until you are on the shooting station and prepared to shoot. Shotgun actions must be opened and unloaded before the shooters move from the station.
  18.  The maximum number of shells that may be loaded on any sgc shotgun range is 2!
  19.  A clay target round consists of exactly 25 targets!!!
  20.  Every member is a safety officer! If you see an unsafe act or if you see anyone or anything down range, immediately call cease fire.

100 Yard Rifle Positions

  1. The 100 Yard stations of the Rifle Range are for centerfire rifle calibers ONLY.
  2. Slow rate of fire. No faster than 1 Round every 5 Seconds. ( 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, 4 Mississippi, 5 Mississippi) No Rapid Fire at ANY time.
  3. Paper Targets ONLY! Setup so that your shots are straight through the target and straight into the berm. No Steel, No targets on the ground.

200 Yard Rifle Positions

  1. The 200 Yard stations (2-1, 2-2, 2-3) of the Rifle Range are for centerfire rifle calibers and 22 Rimfire RIFLES at targets past 100 yards. No targets are allowed inside 100 yards on these postitions.
  2. Slow rate of fire. No faster than 1 Round every 5 Seconds. ( 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, 4 Mississippi, 5 Mississippi) No Rapid Fire at ANY time.
  3. Paper Targets ONLY! Setup so that your shots are straight through the target and straight into the berm. No Steel, No targets on the ground.
